Privacy Policy
ContentForge Studio is a browser-based video, image and audio editor run by OriginForge Studio Ltd (company number 17250692; “we”, “us”), based in Manchester, UK. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: contact@originforgestudio.co.uk.
What we collect, and why

Cookies and similar storage
- Essential storage (no consent needed): your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB hold your projects, your preferences, whether you have seen the welcome tour, and your cookie choice.
- Google Analytics cookies (
_gaand_ga_…) are set only if you accept. Nothing from Google Analytics loads before you choose.
You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of the app. Choosing Decline switches analytics off and removes the analytics cookies.
Who else handles your data
- Google (Firebase / Google Cloud) — sign-in, database, file storage, and the server functions that run our payments. Also Google Analytics, if you accept.
- Stripe — payments and subscription management.
- Google Play — payments and subscription management for subscriptions bought in the Android app.
- IMG.LY — the background-remover’s AI model files are downloaded from IMG.LY’s servers (
staticimgly.com) the first time you use it, so that server can see your IP address. Your images are not uploaded: the cutout is computed inside your browser.
We do not sell your personal data. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States; where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, projects and uploads until you ask us to delete them or delete your account. You can delete your account yourself in ContentForge (Settings → Delete my account), which also cancels any subscription — see Delete your account. Records of payments are kept as long as the law requires. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ retention settings.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time (for example by declining analytics in Cookie settings). To use any of these rights, email contact@originforgestudio.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
ContentForge Studio is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change how we use personal data we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top, so please check it from time to time.
